Stryper's frontman, Michael Sweet, shared a captivating anecdote about their rise to prominence, recalling how their music video swiftly ascended to the coveted number one spot on Dial MTV during their heyday. Furthermore, Sweet took a moment during the concert to express the band's deep gratitude and appreciation for their fans, acknowledging the incredible achievements they have garnered throughout their career.
In an era where many bands from the same period have struggled to maintain a stable lineup, Stryper has defied the odds by largely retaining its original members. Alongside Michael Sweet, his brother Robert on drums, and the skilled guitarist Oz Fox have remained steadfast. The only notable change occurred in the bass player position, which has been expertly filled by Perry Richardson, formerly of the original FireHouse lineup, since 2017.
Although I had yet to witness a live performance by Stryper, I was finally granted the opportunity, and it surpassed all my expectations. Michael Sweet, undoubtedly one of the most exceptional vocalists of our time, delivered an awe-inspiring performance that lived up to my every anticipation. The combination of Fox's masterful guitar skills, Robert Sweet's powerhouse drumming, and Richardson's solid bass playing culminated in a truly remarkable and cohesive show from start to finish.
They didn't play their chart-topping hit "Honestly," curiously, it was omitted from the setlist. Nevertheless, standout performances of "Calling On You" and "Always There For You" captivated the audience, showcasing the band's timeless prowess. Additionally, the inclusion of two tracks from their latest album, "The Final Battle," namely "Transgressor" and "No Rest for the Wicked," seamlessly blended with the rest of the repertoire. It was genuinely refreshing to witness a band that continues to create new music fearlessly and incorporates it seamlessly into their live performances. What truly sets Stryper apart is their refusal to be confined to the confines of a nostalgia act, demonstrating their commitment to musical innovation and evolution.
The atmosphere was electric as the crowd passionately sang along to nearly every song, a testament to the unparalleled dedication of Stryper's fans. There is no fan more devoted than a Stryper fan, and their fervent participation created an unforgettable night of shared joy and camaraderie.
However, the pinnacle of the evening came when Stryper saved their most iconic and impactful piece for the grand finale. The opening chords of "To Hell With The Devil," the title track from their monumental album, reverberated through the venue, instantly igniting a frenzy among the audience. The sheer excitement and anticipation in the air were palpable as the band launched into the song, sending the crowd into an ecstatic frenzy of cheers and applause. It was a moment of pure rock and roll bliss, an unparalleled climax that resonated with the very core of Stryper's legacy.

The night kicked off with an electrifying performance by Mike Tramp, the unmistakable voice of the iconic 80's band White Lion. Accompanied by the extraordinary guitarist Marcus Nand, whose mastery allowed him to flawlessly recreate every intricate lick of White Lion's timeless catalog, they wasted no time in delivering an unforgettable set within the limited one-hour timeframe.
Aware of the precious time constraints, Tramp and Nand strategically selected a lineup of hits that showcased the very essence of White Lion's musical prowess. From the soul-stirring ballad "Wait" to the emotionally charged anthem "Tell Me," and the politically charged "Cry For Freedom," they left no stone unturned, treating the audience to a thrilling journey through the band's celebrated discography.
However, due to the time limitations, two of White Lion's biggest chart-topping hits, "When The Children Cry" and their captivating cover of "Radar Love," regrettably didn't make it into the setlist. Nonetheless, the sheer magnitude of their performance overshadowed this slight disappointment, as Tramp and Nand skillfully captivated the crowd with their infectious energy and undeniable stage presence.
Notably, Mike Tramp's recently released album, "Songs of White Lion," stands as a testament to his unwavering dedication to his craft and the enduring legacy of White Lion. On this album, Tramp explores new arrangements of the band's beloved classics, resulting in epic reinterpretations that truly resonate with die-hard White Lion fans. It is an essential addition to any fan's collection, offering a fresh perspective on the timeless songs that defined an era.
